Martina Coscia, PhD

Staff Engineer | Wyss Center Neurotechnology Experts

Martina joined the Wyss Center as Research Engineer in June 2015.  She supports the team in neuroengineering, robotics and stroke rehabilitation and is manager of the Robotic Facility.

She has experience in neurorehabilitation of stroke subjects and her research is focused on the study of motor control of post-stroke subjects in order to design innovative strategies for robot-aided neurorehabilitation.

Career

Martina was previously a post-doctoral fellow at the Translational Neural Engineering Laboratory (Prof. Silvestro Micera) at the École Politechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland from 2013 to 2016.

She received her PhD degree in Biorobotics from the Scuola Superiore Sant’ Anna, Italy, in 2013, and her Master degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2009.

In 2011-2012, she was a visiting research fellow of the Motion Analysis Lab (Prof. Paolo Bonato) at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

She has also collaborated with the Italian Research Council in Pisa, Italy (Prof. Nicoletta Berardi) and with the University of Genoa, Italy (Prof. Maura Casadio).
